The HerCraft team have been in touch with British Airways, who have provided us with an insight to their application process.
The job advert for British Airways Aircraft Maintenance Apprenticeship is usually released in October / November time.
In order to apply for this role, there are certain requirements that you will need to meet. These are as follows:
GCSE : 9-4 (A*-C) / with a grade 6 or equivalent in maths
Note: Please check their live job advert for more information.
BA's job application is all online via their website. You can also find it on gov apprenticeships website when it is released. The application form will consist of: information about you, your qualifications and
a written question (this is usually a question regarding your motivation to join BA and the apprenticeship scheme). After you have completed this, you will then partake in an online ability test.
If your initial application is successful, you will then be asked to do a video interview. This is a pre-recorded interview. This means that you, as the applicant, will record yourself answering each of the questions required.
The last stage is the assessment centre! This part of the application process is in person, usually located at BA's Waterside location. There are 3 sections of the assessment centre which are:
- Interview: This part of the assessment centre is where you will be face to face with members of staff, answering a variety of questions.
- Group Activity: This is where you will have a group activity that will be watched by members of staff. This is usually so that BA can get a good view on what you are like as a person and how you work in a team.
- Hand-skills: To assess how you well you work, hands - on.
After the Assessment Centre, you will receive an email or phone call. This will entail whether you have been successful or not.
